Summer Eats, Drinks and Festivals

An overcast Memorial Day came and went, we are getting excited for the growing list of interesting events that embrace our favorites: Wine, Food, Brew and any local tastes that intrigue you.

As we look forward to a fun list events and hope to hear any invites you'd like to share with us, why don't we reflect on the last few weeks. We had a chance to travel to Memphis, TN for a friends birthday celebration and coincidentally it was their Memphis in May International Festival. Quick summary - BBQ weekend! There was quite the diversity in things to do. While downtown walk to Beale Street to listen to live bands, enjoy southern eats and then walk it with a drink in hand from any bar - yes the bars open to the streets to serve. Off Beale Street there are breweries and distilleries to explore, along with the famous Gus's Fried Chicken and a great collection of bars with outdoor seating in the Midtown/Cooper-Young area. We loved the new RailGarten with outdoor games and wine in a can. Ended the weekend with a breathtaking sunset from a roof top bar overlooking the Mississippi River.

Memorial Day back in Philadelphia was a nice quiet one as many escaped to the shore for the official kick off of the summer season. Staying in the city there was a fun market at Schmidt's Commons (The Piazza) where one could shop local vendors, eat lunch from the Cheese E Wagon food truck (or any restaurant in the commons) and who could miss the adult tastings of Wine, Brew, Cider, Vodka and liquor infused desserts. Tastings added to the summer to do list: Stone & Key Cellars, St. Benjamin Brewing Company and Federal Distilling.
Monday had a chance to take a couple visitors from the suburbs to a new favorite rooftop: Revolution House. The flatbread sandwiches, wood fired pizzas and sauces to go with the tots were fun to share over great conversation.

Cheers to the summer ahead to the Wine, Food, Brew and any local tastes that intrigue you!
