Let's begin with the travel with a side of wine.

Ready for the adventures to begin? We are very excited to bring together our travels, love for food & drink, and our desire to share what’s in our backyard! We are Philadelphian Phoodies - not sorry, the PH is a theme that you’ll see popUP all over ;) … So yes we are Philadelphian Phoodies who want to share all the great food, drink and experiences in the Philadelphia Area, but we are also traveling the world for work & fun, so why not share all the experiences.

Let’s kick it off with some airport time - if you travel a lot, you look for slight comforts that make a place feel like a home away from home. I’ve thought a lot about having a go-to bar at home, where you know your bartender and it’s comfortable to patron anytime no matter if someone can join you or not. Well I’m heading to my terminal in Boston, to fly home after a week on the road for work (somewhat boring week - which drives me crazy). Thankfully the terminal that most of the flights leave from to head back to Philadelphia has my favorite airport bar - Vino Volo. As I walk up the bartender greats me & welcomes me back! This is only my 3rd time to Boston this year, so it was an even more welcoming feeling for her to remember me (imagine how many people come & go on a daily basis). That is hospitality right there, home away from home, that moment that just makes you smile and relax after a long day/week.

Vino Volo - if you’ve never checked them out at an airport, well you need to! (Quick tangent - I’m all about loyalty programs, so Vino Volo has an app & loyalty program - GET IT!!). So as a member, there is always an exclusive wine to taste and if you spend enough and get up to the Reserve level, you’ll get a free amuse-bouche. So the tastes of the day: a delicious red wine - Oberon from Michael David Winery (Blackberry & Coffee) with Steak & Goat Cheese Crostini to taste!

If you haven’t guessed, Vino Volo is all about the wine (they usually have a couple beers just in case). The menu is 2-3 wines paired together to give you tastes in a flight, with the option to get a full glass if you prefer or find one that you like. There is even a mimosa flight for those that are traveling earlier and you need a little juice in the glass. The food is also yummy & well prepared. Good food, good wine - no need for any other place! Plus every so often you can strike up good conversations with different travelers - that evening the big conversation was the delayed flights and some with missed connections. Talked great business, jobs/careers and life on the road.

One more helpful hint - Vino Volo sells bottles of wine, so if you are ever traveling and need a gift, you can pick it up after TSA! (I did this trick last Christmas when I didn’t check a bag) - and of course members get discounts!!

It’s all about the taste, the experience & the atmosphere. Where do you philUP on delicious tastes?
